Well Hello all you lovely people,
Spring Equinox has finally arrived which means from now until the Autumn Equinox in October, the days will be longer than the nights. I for one will be shouting hoorah! and doing a little crazy dance as that means I get to spend longer in amongst my lovely flowers.
If you have ever visited the flower farm and been there as the sun sets then you will know how blessed I feel to be able to tend to my flowers while I have such a spectacular backdrop late into the evening.
I am sure you have noticed everything starting to wake itself up including my favourite, the stunning Daffodil, showing off all its vibrant yellow glory and bobbing about in the wind.
I say they are my favourite but most of the spring bulbs take a close second, hyacinth, muscari, crocus, fritallia, oh but then there is the snowdrop…. It’ll stop there, they all my favourite! ha ha.
There’s something about the resilience of them that inspires me, they are buried in the cold damp earth for months but when they pop out their little heads they do it with such pizazz!
Things have been a little slow this year though and most of the spring bulbs have only just started to show through this week so I should now be able to fulfil my subscription customers at the end of this month.
If you have your own little garden and want to follow along with what I am sowing each month then please do let me know, this Month is a busy one for me and a lot of my veg seeds have gone into their trays [Beetroot, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflower, Onions, Celery, Peppers, Tomatoes] along with the following flowers…Cosmos, Celosia, Cornflower, Marigold, Helichrysum, Nasturtium, Nigella and poppies to name but a few.
I am trying some different varieties this year too including Scabiosa Stellata which I am hoping is going to be as spectacular as she looks in the catalogue.
I have rearranged all my beds too to make them more efficient for maintaining and watering along with creating an entirely new vegetable/potager garden. You don’t have to tell me I am crazy, my husband says that every day!
If you have social media please do connect and interact with me on there [instagram and facebook] if you can as it does really help a little business like me, and, of course please feel free to respond to this email if you have any questions or thoughts on what’s happening in the flower Farm… it would be lovely to speak to you.
Enjoy the Spring days and until next time…
’The deep roots never doubt that Spring will come’ ,
Scabiosa Stellata
